Dear readers,
The last time I wrote to you, I was a year younger. Well, almost! I successfully passed the 33 year mark on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday, and for the moment I don't feel any change! In my head, I got stuck at 30, it's a little weird.
Last weekend, you probably read Scribe's letter, the one from August. I had a great time writing it, considering all the beautiful stories I had the pleasure of publishing and the talented writers I discovered.
I have launched a new feature on Scribe, the well named "Column". Each week, I highlight a writer from the publication's navigation bar so that readers can have direct access to a selection of their best stories.
For the first edition, the writer and poet Ansel Allen was in the spotlight. The section will be updated every Friday evening, so don't forget to visit the publication's home page to discover the writers who will appear there. A new writer will be featured tomorrow evening!
I wanted to thank you for all the kind words you send me, which allow me to continue to make this publication live with the same excitement every day! It's crazy, I'm here in my little corner of France, and you're all over the world reading me, reading Scribe and all these fabulous writers that I have the pleasure of publishing daily. I never thought I'd experience such an adventure, but it's all very real!
Today I would like to talk to you about a little trick on Medium, which can be useful when you use a vertical featured image (it works for any image) at the beginning of your text. You can decide which part of the image you want to take into account for thumbnails on social networks and for preview image on Medium. This can be handy when not all parts of the image are necessarily interesting, or when you want to highlight a particular point in the image.
To set a focal point on your featured image:
1 - Hold Alt / Opt.
2 - Click on the image in the place where you want your focal point to be.
3 - The resulting green circle will serve as a focal point for automatic image cropping that appears in post listings and previews around Medium.
It's that simple!
Last Friday, I fell in love with Lana Del Rey's new album. If you haven't heard it yet, first read this article published on Pitchfork:
5 Takeaways From Lana Del Rey's New Album, Norman Fucking Rockwell!
I think she released her best album to date!
That's all for today, thanks again to the new subscribers, without whom this newsletter would not exist, and see you soon for the next part of the adventure!
